Finance Specialist

Finance Specialist - Manchester/ Onsite - Up to £60,000 per annum, depending on experience

An established global manufacturer within the construction machinery sector is expanding its UK operation and seeking a proactive Finance Specialist to join its Manchester team.

This is much more than a transactional finance role. You will work across financial reporting, analysis, compliance, budgeting and operational finance, giving you excellent exposure across the wider business. You will also work closely with UK management and an international Finance Leader, making this an exciting opportunity for someone who wants responsibility, variety and further career development.

The role

• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
• Analyse financial information, investigate variances and highlight unusual transactions
• Support the preparation of profit and loss reports, balance sheets, cash flow reports and management information
• Complete bank reconciliations, expense tracking and general accounting activities
• Process supplier invoices, payment requests, employee expenses and reimbursement claims
• Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding items
• Support month-end and year-end accounting, including journals, accruals, reconciliations and supporting schedules
• Assist with UK VAT returns and other financial and tax reporting requirements
• Support annual budgeting, forecasting and financial planning
• Monitor expenditure against budgets and report significant variances
• Prepare accurate financial information for UK management and international headquarters
• Help improve financial processes, procedures and internal controls
• Work collaboratively with Sales, HR, Procurement, Logistics and Operations
• Assist with finance projects, system implementation and other business initiatives

About you

• A degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or a related subject, or a relevant professional accounting qualification or equivalent experience
• Previous experience within a broad, hands-on finance or accounting role
• Good knowledge of UK accounting practices, VAT and financial compliance
• Practical experience of month-end reporting, reconciliations, journals and accruals
• Confidence working across accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting and cash flow
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proactive, ambitious and motivated to take ownership rather than wait for instruction
• Excellent attention to detail and a consistently high level of accuracy
• Confident communicating with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
• Able to work independently while maintaining regular communication with an internationally based Finance Leader
• Fluent written and spoken English

Experience within manufacturing, machinery, automotive, engineering, distribution or another international product-based business would be advantageous but is not essential.

Experience of international reporting, inventory, intercompany transactions or foreign currency would also be beneficial.
